Having served on the Finance Committee for her entire Board tenure, Anne is pleased to report that Lake County received a AAA designation from both S&P and Moody’s rating agencies, one of only 38 counties nationwide to do so.
Anne also serves as the Treasurer of the Lake County Forest Preserve Commission and Chair of the County’s Revenue and Legislative Committee, and is on County commissions and boards of community organizations dealing with regional flooding issues, environmental protection, affordable housing, domestic violence, and health care, to name a few. Highlights:

Accomplishments while serving as your Lake County Board Representative …
• Successfully championed the establishment of a Wetland Mitigation Fund to ensure that when wetlands are filled during development, developer fees are used to mitigate (recreate) wetlands within the same watershed to sustain flood protection here in the County’s eastern watersheds.
• Secured a grant for flood protection of $380,000 from the Wetland Mitigation Fund to enable the Park District of Highland Park to create and restore wetlands at Skokie Woods (Routes 22 and 41) to help our flood protection efforts in this area of the County.
• Coordinated efforts with the City of Highland Park and Community Family Center to secure a $100,000 grant for environmental remediation at Karger Center. Reuse of an existing building puts development where existing infrastructure is already in place with the least impact.
• Effectively advocated for local communities’ affordable housing efforts, supporting efforts to help local businesses’ employees live closer to work, help seniors stay in their communities, and help our children return to the communities they grew up in. Grants of nearly $800,000 were used to leverage almost $10 million in other private and public funding.
• Worked collaboratively to help bring a community health clinic to a transit-oriented, downtown Highland Park location to serve uninsured and underinsured residents in southeast Lake County.
• Promoted a vaccine distribution site for southeast area residents and disseminated timely information about the availability of 2,500 H1N1 flu vaccinations.
• Brought public access improvements and ravine restoration to the Ft. Sheridan Forest Preserve with a 1.5 mile hiking/biking trail to Lake Michigan. As a member of the advisory committee charged with creating a master plan, Anne continues to work for additional improvements at this preserve.
• Worked with the Ft. Sheridan Homeowner’s Association to obtain a $25,000 grant from the Watershed Management Board for Scott Ravine remediation from the impact of storm runoff damage.
• Instituted, writes—and e-distributes—a newsletter about Lake County government and Forest Preserve issues (at no taxpayer expense) to keep residents informed and maintain an open dialogue with constituents.
